Open Audition Call for Big Fish

Performance Dates: July 12th and 13th at 7:00 PM and 14th at 2:00 PM

Performs at Lee’s Summit West High School

Cast Age Range: 9th grade through Adults

AUDITION DATES:

Saturday, March 23rd from 1:00 – 4:00 PM

Sunday, March 24th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM

AUDITION INFORMATION:

  • Each auditioner is requested to fill out the online audition form. Auditioners will be seen every 60 minutes. Your audition will be complete within 60 minutes including voice and dance.

  • Please contact treasurer@summittheatre.org if you need to cancel or adjust your audition time, please do not fill out another registration form.
  • Everyone is required to arrive 5-minutes prior to their audition time to check-in. 

WHAT TO PREPARE: 

  • Up to 32 bars of a song from a staged Broadway musical that will showcase your vocal range and acting ability. Please make sure your audition piece is memorized and bring a copy of the sheet music for the accompanist (who is provided) in the correct key and with your start and stop points marked; the accompanist will not transpose a song on-sight. Absolutely no A Cappella singing or music from a device (i.e. CD, I-POD, MP3, etc.) 
  • Be familiar with the concept, characters, & music from the show; the more you are prepared, the better chance you have to receive a role. Find the character listing here: Big Fish Character List
  • Don’t forget to wear clothes that you can move in – there is a dance audition as part of this process.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS:

Video submissions will be accepted through 11:59 PM on Saturday, March 23rd. Those who want to be considered for a speaking or singing role need to be available for callbacks. For video submissions you will need to include the following:

  • Video recording of up to 32 bars of a Broadway song. It is preferred you audition with live piano accompaniment, but we will accept submissions with recorded accompaniment as well. We must be able to view you singing your auditions piece, not just hear it. 
  • Completed audition form linked above. 
  • Resume, if available.
  • Headshot

All video auditions should be emailed to or shared with treasurer@summittheatre.org  no later than 11:59 PM on Saturday, March 23rd.

CALLBACKS: (by directors invitation only)

Tuesday, March 26th from 7:00 – 9:30 PM

The callback list will be posted by 11:59 PM on March 24th. Notification will be given via our facebook page and instagram account that the lists are posted. The cast list will be posted by 11:59 PM on Sunday, March 31st on both Facebook and Instagram.

Vocal callback materials will be provided for your convenience to prepare ahead of time starting on March 10th. Callbacks will also include cold readings from the script.

WHAT TO BRING: 

  • Dedication and commitment to STG, the director, and fellow actors is of utmost importance. Conflicts affect casting and all conflicts will be taken into consideration. Regarding conflicts: 
    • All conflicts must be given at audition time. Conflicts cannot be added after auditions, please don’t ask. The specified rehearsal schedule will be constructed based on conflicts. 
    • Every cast member is limited to 5 or less rehearsal conflicts. We cannot accommodate the cast being gone one entire week for a vacation or camp.
    • If you want to be considered for a named/main character role you must have 3 or less conflicts. 
    • No conflicts allowed after June 23rd. Three weeks of the entire cast during rehearsal is necessary.
  • Headshots are welcome, but not required. STG crew will be taking photos of everyone when you check in.
